Willow is a limited edition hand painted illustration, printed on 300gsm Hahnemüle fine art paper using archival quality inks.
This work is inspired by childhood days at the beach, which often in New Zealand look grey and blustery, flying a kite and feeling joyfully suspended in unending time. The landscape is created from my sketchbook entries of local landscapes, blended together to create the world in which Willow lives. This work honours the freedom of childhood, and the significance of hope and dreaming. Whilst the weather may be grey and somewhat fierce, the children only find adventure and more opportunities for play.
