From the She Came From The Hills collection, Anya is a limited edition hand painted illustration, printed on 300gsm Hahnemüle fine art paper using archival quality inks.
The She Came From The Hills collection was made in relationship to and in conversation with the Port Hills of Christchurch, the rolling, giant-like hills which sit as the backdrop to my home city, as well as happen to be my backyard. Every day I walk these hills, for many years now. Amongst these hills I feel most at home, most myself, and free to breathe, dream and simply be. It is in walking these hills that I feel like my child self, without time or pressure, free to wonder and wander. As I enter deeper into the hills’ folds, the city disappears behind, and I am enveloped in an energy and spirit which feels unlimited, everlasting and utterly full. I meet birds along the way, feel the wind through my hair, and the sun and rain on my skin. Over the last three years, I started bringing my sketchbook into the hills with me, and began to draw: a bumblebee, a kingfisher, a magpie, a flower, a leaf, a tree. My sketchbook helped me begin to see the hills more than I’d noticed prior, and actually get to know the community I call home and which nourishes me so deeply. This ongoing collection is built from my sketchbook entries, and feature a young child, free to roam with her bird friend.
Please note: orders will be shipped after February 18th 2026 due to being on residency.
